WEEK 13 | 1 - 5 AUGUST 2022 | WEEK ACTIVITY

This is the busiest week ever for this semester as there have a lot of programs to do. For this week, all teachers and students involved non-academic activities. Hence, every teacher have assigns which slot will be taken and the program up to person in charge (PIC).

Here, I need to in charge two slots, which Form 4 and Form 5. Hence, in order to make sure students will continue study through the program, I asked Form 5 students for United Nation General Assembly (UNGA). Here, each class chose one country, then they need to present all bout country in term of food, costume, culture, and many others.

There had India, Indonesia, Arab Saudi, Japan, Korea and many others. Principal also came to the events as wanna see the flow of the program. I'm glad that he told me that it is one of fun activity as they can enjoy after long time study.

For Form 4 students, I'm asking help from Mathematic teacher for explorace activity. Students were divided into  homeroom group. They need to success in all checkpoint as there had 2 things they need to do, i. doing activity ii. answering questions.

There have 5 checkpoints :

i. Fill water in container + answering question

ii. Insert marker into bottle using rope + asnwering

iii. Guess word + answering

iv. Find sugar in flour + answering

v. Puzzle + answering

WEEK 12 | 25 - 29 JULY 2022 | EXERCISE & QUIZ

It's my pleasure as all the syllabus had been covered last week.

So, as my planning going well, for this week I'm just focusing to do exercise and quiz for them.

As quiz are one of tools that including their mark for final exam, we have done 2 quiz and this week was the last as well.

My 1 hour class will focus on the exercise that covered all chapter in this semester. My 2nd class undergone quiz and my 3rd class have done for exercise.

Unfortunately, there have some students got mark below 50. What should I do? As a punishment for them, and for their improvement, I created intervention session for them every evening so they can score at least the simple topics.

Its a weird that they can do exercise, but problem in quiz. Maybe they forgot the formula. That was not my concern as in exam, the formulae will be provided.

S: Easiest method to memorize formulae

W: Lack of questions exercise

O: Students participate at most by using graphic

T: LCD problem

WEEK 11 | 18 - 22 JULY | BOOST

For this week, I need to finish all syllabus for all class that I teach. For form 1 class, we were entering for topic of linear equation. I really glad that this topic need only 3 hours to finish up the syllabus. Here, I taught 3methods for solve the linear equation which are graphing, elimination and substitution method.

However, most of them prefer for substitution method. This made me worried as sometimes the question mention which method they need to use. I pushed them to take note all of the method.

For form 5 class, we entered the topic of congruency. There have 4 types of transformation that students need to know which are translation, rotation, reflection and enlargement. Students afraid for rotation subtopics as they asked for center of rotation. However, I asked the to use compasses which are easiest way.

Form 4 students, not so worried as we entered for last subtopics which covered all syllabus for this semester which is network graph. This topics need 1 hour only to finish and yet, students really excited for this topic because this is more to understanding and creativity.  They need to draw and think wisely.

For whole this week, I have made some SWOT in which, there are:

S: Most of last subtopic is the simple one as just need creativity of students

W: So many new terms for students to memorize

O: Support from school for extensive class program

T: Students sleepy in class as extensive class from evening to night

WEEK 10 | 13 JULY 2022 - 15 JULY 2022 | EXAMINATION WEEK

 WEEK 10

After full of different events, now it's time for the students to sit for formative assessments. My class schedule will be comprised of Form 1, Form 5 and Form 4 classes only on top of becoming the invigilator for the assessment. This gave me a chance to revise my lesson plan for Science that suits the need of my students.

For this week, the lesson emphasized the revision for my classrooms. Part of the class activities involved group activity for the students to handle appropriate instruments (metre ruler, calculator, and graph web). This time around I ensured to spell out the instruction as specific and crystal clear. As a consequence, the students were able to respond positively and follow my instruction very well. In the middle of the activity, students were guided inadvertently to equip personal projects with basic science skills.

The only obstacle that I faced was I could not remember the name of muted students in the class which resulted in myself to call for volunteers in class. To make a serious effort in learning their names, I plan an Engagement activity by calling 2-3 students in every class to share their feelings. In this way, it will be easier for me to recognize the students while simultaneously creating a safe environment for the students to express their thoughts and emotional awareness..

WEEK 9 | 4 JULY 2022 - 8 JULY 2022 | PdPR

 WEEK 9

Here we go.

Online class again.... Since the fever case increase as number of students affected, so KKM suggest school management for PdPR. Hence all students need to go back home to avoid the spread of the virus.

Here we came, online class again.

My online class is everyday except Tuesday. Eventhough we undergone online class, but teachers still need to come to school as usual. The difference is there have no students at school.

All of us know that the effectivenes of PdPR is less than face to face class. Thats why I not like much on PdPR. But, we need to coorperate to avoid the spread.

So, as usual, there had 3 or 4 students not attend my class due to internet coverage. I'm really pity to them but, I have gave them some notes in form of slide so that they can study themselves.

Our class starting from 8 and finished at 1.30 p.m. every subject only got 1 hour for each session.

Hence there have a few information about SWOT that i have got.

S: Students less tired due to have a lot of time break

W: Some students not focus on class, do their things while teacher teaching

O: parents support school effort for PdPR

T: Some students need share the gadget with other sibling/ lack of internet coverage.

WEEK 8 | 27 JUNE 2022 - 1 JULY 2022 | LOT OF PROGRAM!

 WEEK 8

Moving on to the next big event that was held on Saturday morning was the cross country running which involves running over undulating courses. This big event might sound brutal to some of the students with minimal fitness ability. Before the final event, students were exposed to the evening training with the trail outside the school in order to build up their stamina and strength. I was responsible for distributing the food and drinks to the students. We set up the place to distribute the food and drinks early in the morning with the help of the volunteers among students. Teachers and volunteers passed the drink after the race ended. We managed to handle the process smoothly due to the good cooperation given by teachers and volunteers. The distribution process finished early right before the prize-giving ceremony started.

This week also full of sports program where I need to make sure the place of the program will be safe. In morning, we full of meeting to make sure the program will go perfect. For the class which affecting for the meeting, I need to leave homework so they not waste their time when I did not enter the class.

S: Additional handout prepared for students

W: Limited time due to meeting

O: Students gave cooperation through discussion in group

T: Some students sleepy due to school physival activity

WEEK 7 | 20 JUNE 2022 - 24 JUNE 2022 | CONTINUE SYLLABUS

 WEEK 7

For this week, I continued the lesson on Factors affecting the return on investment for real estate with Form 4. Students need to understand what are converse, inverse and contrapositive of an implication. Some students in my Form 4 class need extra time to properly understand the SCIC methods been introduced. A few examples were shown on board to increase their understanding.

For next day, I continued for topic Arguments. My Form 4 students seem to be excited on learning this topic since they were been introduced with the usage of credit card. They seems fascinated when I was explaining on the features of the credit card on board.

For Form 1 being introduced on SCIC methods and learnt what are inductive and deductive argument. Students need to explain in a group. It was a bit on a fast phase. This might be due to their class has not always being disturbed or fall into public holiday, hence they were able to continue lesson without being left behind. Then, they should be making notes. I instructed my students to do some note taking assignments. All in all, this week has been a very hectic and tiring day for me.

With the multiprogram that would be held next week, students and teachers need to train for students and marching event. I immediately infected by fever and flu and its kinda affecting my focus in class. I felt very tired and did not have enough energy to properly teach the students. However, I still tried to do my best in order to deliver the content and ensuring that the students do understand what being taught.

S: Activity involved in classroom

W: Some students just quiet themselves

O: Cooperation among students

T: Not listen instruction

WEEK 6 | 13 JUNE 2022 - 17 JUNE 2022 | PROCEEDING SYLLABUS

WEEK 5

For this week, I have plenty of time to prepare for my teaching materials. For Form 1 class, I selected Youtube videos about Cube and Square. The video summarized the whole chapter, so that students can recap back what they have learned before.

While preparing for teaching and learning material for Form 5 class, I come across a reference book from senior teacher, which can be used to assist students understand the lesson better. Therefore, what I did was, to hide and delete all the answer written in the book using online PDF editor, before printing the exercises for 7 groups. During both class, I observed that these teaching assisting tools were very useful to keep students focus and understand the lesson better.

For Form 4, my objective is only to discuss last week revision exercises and summarized the lesson. Sadly at the beginning of the class, few students unable to complete the revision exercise given. Nevertheless, I proceeded with the discussion session, and students actively compare their own answer to the reference answer given. I asked students to calculate their total marks and evaluate their level of understanding.

At the afternoon, I was involved in Kelab Catur for extacurricular activity, in which I assigned students to create one time-lapse video based on their creativity. The end result were so funny and interesting, and some students really shows excellent skill in taking picture and creating video!

S: Table example given

W: Uses of english term

O: Gadget usage

T: Mistake of gadget use if teacher not round the class

WEEK 4 | 30 MAY 2022 - 3 JUNE 2022 | GRAPHING

WEEK 4

For whole this week, before the class officially begin, I prepared the relevant and easy post learning exercises, by referring to the DSKP standard and textbook syllabus. This is because, I need to ensure the learning objectives is achieved, when students able to complete and answer the exercises correctly.  During the small group discussion, I observed that F1 students are able to search for the answer in the textbook and discussed them in group. Unlike last week, in which the students are distributed in group randomly, today groups were arranged by the students themselves, and probably because of compatibility factors, the lesson was delivered more effectively.

The teaching and learning session continued with F4 students. They were involved in hands on practical session in graphing. I have to demonstrated and drew the procedure to guide students in this session. At the end of the session, all group able to obtain accurate data and results, as stated in the textbook. I realized that through out this activity, because students observes the changes happen in their graph. They able to relate the finding with the lesson, and when I summarized the data, students able to understand the lesson better.

We recall on some of the important concepts and keywords (which they done with learning it last week) So I gave them homework to draw the graph (by copying every single detail in the textbook) with correct labels and checked during the next class.

For Form 5 students, I start with some sharing on SPM 2021 result - how attitude towards studies correlate with their examination results. About 6 months left to SPM 2022 minus the holidays so they do not have much time actually to still play around and not focus in class.

We recalled on syllabus and gave them formative test to be completed during class and discuss right away. Majority of the students struggle to think out of the box and relate the questions with the concept which they have learned. I had to remind them to do extra revision on the topic. I gave them manilla card/ Mahjong paper for them to prepare group presentation - one subtopic for each group. I asked them to do presentation because this chapter involve a lot of terms with specific examples and it requires reading and some research for them to understand better.

S: Simple formula

W: Many Formula

O: Use of graphic

T: Students sleep in class

WEEK 3 | 23 MAY 2022 - 27 MAY 2022 | CALCULATORS

WEEK 3

This was the third week of my practicum journey.

In Morning, I starts with a consultation with my mentor, Mrs Zawin, about the progress of my practicum. I seek advice on how to be more creative in my teaching.

She gave an idea to make a quick survey in the classroom on which activity students want to do during Math Class. Mrs Zawin said that sometimes, teachers need to listen to students' preferences as well so that the learning process becomes more enjoyable. From the survey, most of the students prefer group work activities during class rather than individual work. Some students suggest having online quizzes like Kahoot and Quizziz before the class end. I take note of all the responses given by the students.

For this week, students are taught how to use calculator in many ways and forms. For last week's class, they are taught on the theories.  To ensure students can remember them easily and quickly, I implement in solving problem so they always remember the ways.

S: Students have their own calculator

W: Different models of calculator among students

O: Additional Class at the evening

T: No much time due to others program/event slotted in for students.

WEEK 2 | 16 MAY 2022 - 20 MAY 2022 | EXAMINATION WEEK, US1

WEEK 2

This week was examination week. I expected that there will a lot of additional class. Since this week was examination week where involving all Form, I was given an invigilating timetable. Since I am still a member of UPPM (Unit Peperiksaan & Penilaian Maktab), I have known the procedure for undergo the examination.

Table below shows form involved in examination.

Table below shows invigilator that need to invigilate the classroom involved.

16 May 2022
My slot was at 10.30 a.m until 12.00 noon where we focused on exercise topical for Quadratic Function, Form 4. Most students scored paper 1 but, got a few marks due to minor mistake.

Most of them misused the formula of a certain topic that bring them for wrong step and lead to wrong answer.

17 May 2022
Today, my slot for Form 5 was at 8.30 a.m. I asked students to focus on the topic Insurans where there are a lot of formula that will not be given in the exam. So, they need to know how to use a certain formula.

I believe that they have prepared to face their exam as they able to answer correctly. It made me less-worry.

18 May 2022
My first subject to invigilate was Geography exam for Form 2. The exam went well and all students adhere to the examination time. However, most of the students slept last 10 minutes before examination end. I'm trying to wake them up to check the answer for last 10 minutes.

19 May 2022
Today, I need to recheck question paper for Form 4 so that there have no amendments for tomorrow. Since I have no class and no need to be invigilator today, so I have a plenty of time to recheck carefully.

20 May 2022
As a Coordinator teacher for Mathematics Form 4, I need to monitor all the class as preparation if there have any problem that need to be cleared. However, examination for today went well and I really proud of me. Its time to mark the paper!

WEEK 1 | 9 MAY 2022 - 13 MAY 2022 | BEGINNING PRACTICUM

WEEK 1

For the first day of my practicum (Monday), I went to the office for reporting duty to principal. I met with the Principal and Vice-Principal of Academic Excellence for a short conversation about my practicum session. Hence, I met my mentor to discuss on my tasks for this week. We had normal class along this week but, there have some extra class that can be known as ADEX (Academic Excellent), every Tuesday evening.

Every Monday evening at the first week, we have assembly involving students and teachers. Coincidence, this week was first week of timetable. So, we had assembly at the evening. Every Wednesday and Thursday, we have co-curricular activity. So, students will have complementary activity to release their stress after study.

Since I am teaching F1, F4 and F5 students, hence for this week, I finished current topic for each form and made some revision for examination next week.

Form 1: Factors and Multiples.

Form 4: Quadratic Function. I generated a game from quizzies for students to answer the questions to make it more fun.

Form 5: Insurans. By end of the lessons, I provided quiz for students to measure their understanding level.

I found that most of students prefer study in a fun environment in my class. Hence, I have analyze SWOT for this week.

S: Students have smartphone. Easier to access online materials and games

W: After finished the tasks, students take opportunity to access their social media (unrelated to academic)

O: Encouragement from management to use smartphone

T: Slow line for school's wifi
